Print Clash by Westfields

/ Tuesday /

When you work in advertising it immediately makes you cynical of most campaigns. It also means you notice and not notice a hell of a lot of ads. Does that make any sense? Probably not.

My point is- hey look at this awesome Westfields video! Despite there being a total of 2 out of all three comments saying how annoying this is I really like it. Cute music and pretty visuals. I bet it's already stuck in your head. *clap clap* for a pre-roll on YouTube not being totally annoying. Too bad their YouTube page is confusing and trying to do to much- do you agree?

Ended advertising nerd rant here.

Justin Gignac

/ Thursday /
I stumbled across these bunch of talks from the PSFK Conference in New York held earlier this year. If I was a different person I'd pretend to be cool and know what that was (you mean you don't?), but sometimes it's all too much effort.

I really like this talk by Justin Gignac where he talks about his art projects and ideas behind them. It's about 20 minutes but so simple and interesting it didn't seem like any time at all. I especially love the awkward couple of minutes where he loses his notes. I love awkwardness when it's not me. I also love that he talks about being lazy and unmotivated. Is he talking directly to ME?

IF 20 minutes is too much effort (I have a very short attention span so it usually is) then these are my important points from it:

1. DO MORE SHIT
2. Ask yourself is it: Simple? Smart? Surprising? AND Will anyone give a shit?

Virgin Illuminati Ad

/ Saturday /
I first saw this in the cinema a couple of weeks ago and my jaw dropped.

The sheer flashiness, cheesiness, sexiness and humour made an sort of "I should know better because I work in advertising" thought go out the window.

Virgin Atlantic, even though I can't afford to go anywhere you have my heart!

I Want A Wacoal Bra (You Will Too)

/ Wednesday /

Despite working in advertising for years, I can't say I've ever done anything as amazing as these Wacoal ads. Bonds have caught onto the formula, i.e. cute girls, underwear, music and dancing but perhaps this may serve to take them to the next level.

On another note, don't you think it's a little silly the cats are wearing bras but not knickers? Let me know what you think.

Thanks Ray!

Natural Gas TVC

/ Saturday /

Howdy all, this is Laura from See Hear Say guest blogging at Jodeska.

Today I'd like to share a stop motion film made for natural gas commercial by a bunch of guys at TBWA Brussels. See the making of the video too here.

I admit it, advertising could be cool sometimes. I've worked at advertising before and had my fun times. Brilliant ideas like these always fascinate me that sometimes I wonder if I will ever go back to advertising? But maybe no, not for a while anyway.

Keep warm this coming winter for those of you who are in Australia and have a great weekend to you all!

I can't begin to tell you how much I love this. Gold pants anyone?
